  The House of Raminten Restaurant & Café or people are known as Raminten is located in Faridan M. Noto Street Kotabaru Yogyakarta. Located is close to center of town, may be if we take it from zero kilometer we only spend 15 minutes except that traffic jump. From my house, if I go there I just spend about 20 minutes. Raminten’s building is beside of Mirota Bakery that is one company. The interior of Raminten is very cool, located in ancient house with two floors that is still well taken care. In front of the house there are some ancient carriages and it is become one of unique sides of Raminten. Except building, Raminten have other uniqueness, there are history of Raminten, food and drink menus in Raminten and atmosphere in Raminten.

 If we want to know about the history of Raminten, we should to know that Raminten is one of member from Mirota Group and headed by Hamzah HS. He is an entrepreneur that is very famous in Yogyakarta. Raminten is also has a branch, it is located in Kaliurang streets near by Merapi mount. Hamzah HS found Raminten in December 26^th 2008. 

Started from hobby, Mr. Hamzah HS that is like traditional foods and drinks very much, that are tonic herbal drink and cat rise (nasi kucing) and also he has high social awareness, finally Mr. Hamzah established Raminten. This is a business opportunity and he gave a name as The House of Raminten. Raminten is character name that Hamzah always plays in a sitcom in Jogja TV and presents every Sunday at 05.00 pm with title is Pengkolan. 

The menus of Raminten Cafe

     Food and drink menus in Raminten are highly varied, and we can get it with cheap price or student price. Because Hamzah HS found the Raminten with “angkringan” concept but still look unique, elegant, and antique. There is cat rice with anchovies, salted fish, stir-fried tempeh, and sambal is only Rp 1.000 each portion, and there are other portions such as double, triple or omelette addition. Other than that, there are 30 curious variation menus waiting us. For the drink menus, there are some cold drink and hot drink such as ginger, bandrek, secang. Herbal tonic is one of special drink in Raminten and it is benefit for health, because can help to cure hypertension, exhaustion, cough, cleaning blood, etc. Raminten also reserves some beers, there are java beer, pletok beer, shaked beer, branded pure beer. The most special menu in Raminten is Maheso Selo Gromo, this is cuisine with beef-chicken mixture and kluwih. The people always name it with hot stone steak. The price is Rp 20.000, and it is a standard price for everyone. There are special drinks in Raminten, with jumbo portion and low price the people will be excited. Green coconut ice and Dawet Gladri ice, we only pay them Rp 13.000 and Rp 11.000 per glass.

 People who have been visiting Raminten appraise that Raminten is unique. Raminten is a traditional café but don’t forget about modern element. The people can see it from waiter and waitress appearance. The waiters wear jarik and vest unification and the waitresses wear jarik as kemban (wrapped around the upper part of their body).

Atmosphere of Raminten

After go into Raminten, the people will hear an instrumental of Java (gamelan) plays smoothly. Smell of myrrh spread in all of room in Raminten. Lighting in Raminten also support the romantic atmosphere with blurred lamp and colorful. The guests can sit on the floor with Japanese chair that is called “Tatami”. So that the people feel that they are in a Javanese traditional house in Yogyakarta. Before Raminten only opens until 00.00, but because of guest requesting, finally Raminten is 24 hours open. This is become like a heaven, for the people who want to spend along night. Raminten is usually crowded on the night, even when week end, the people must queue up based on waiting list. In regularly day, the people can book a sitting place, but this is not happen when weekend or holiday comes.

 The House of Raminten brings us enjoying Yogyakarta tradition. We all know that Yogyakarta is very famous with Angkringan stall. Raminten creates atmosphere of Angkringan highly class but cheap price. When we visit Jogja, we are not full without enjoying Raminten as Kuliner choice.
