Optimist, Winning for Indonesia

On October 28, 84 years ago, a group of youths with local organization background made a decision carrying together an imagination, that they are one motherland, one nation, and one language : Indonesia. Then 17 years after that, Mr. Soekarno and Mr. Hatta in the name of Indonesia proclaimed new state: Republic of Indonesia. So, Indonesian dream that pledged at 1928 has been reached. However, Mr. Soekarno said that it is not finished yet, as he said at 35^th Sumpah Pemuda
commemoration in 1963: “Don’t heir youth oath dust, but we heir youth oath fire. If you heir its dust, you will be satisfied with the current Indonesia have been one language, nations and motherland. This is not the ultimate goal.” The meaning of Sumpah Pemuda is very important for us as Indonesian youth. It is the first foundation to make sure ourselves that we have the right in the mobilization of the world.

 The world is moving so fast without waiting readiness of each person. Probably, advanced nations can oppress the weak nation to achieve their goals. Before, they colonized weak nation with a rifle or shotgun. They tried to pit one region to other region, and it caused war. Now, foreign nations don’t do like that, they are not directly try to have brain washing to us. This problem will be affected same with colonized period before, provocation will create ethnic war, engage in a gang fight, quarrels between youth in demonstration and government apparatus. We think life is so short, and we look for Indonesia’s future pessimistically. It makes us forget that we are one nation, one language, and one motherland. 

Recently, youth think of Indonesia’s future pessimistically, most of us only have demand of change. They can’t accept with government policy, without doing movement to create a change. Moreover, media reports a lot of negative issues that can disfigure of nation image. Destitution, corruption, pornography, porno action, public figures that don’t have moral, and organization anarchism are main topic in media. That’s all which can be affected negatively of Indonesian thought especially for its youth. Negative issues will influence youth so that Indonesia can’t make creation. We can only use what is available without develop it to be better than before.

The successful youth are they who aware with themselves and where they stand. Indonesia needs them to change. Indonesia needs us as successful youth. We inherit Youth Oath spirit means carrying nation movement hassle to create our main founding dream, that is to create justice and wealthy. We are irresponsible if we do nothing or careless for our nation. We should start from preparing ourselves well to take a part in development process of national progression.

National development has worked since independence of Indonesia. Everyday, our nation makes up to reach civilization better than before. We as Indonesian youth should aware globalization challenge, because the development in this period always relates closely with globalization. Indonesia has the capital to move forward, but if no changes of thinking, Indonesia will move difficultly. So that Indonesia needs us that have an optimistic and progressive thinking. The youth are not just thinking today but also the future. This is very important for us, especially Indonesian youth, familiarize for doing anything that we have to do, in order to fix condition and improve our productivity as nation and country. Every nation child must determine doing a duty and obligation each other more than what should to do. They also need to understand the same rights every person.

So, like Mr. Soekarno said in above, that we should burn our spirit to continue the dream of youth before. We take part to our place, trying to be human resources Indonesia qualified. Everything we do is for the advancement of Indonesia because without us as young people, who have the optimistic and progressive minds, Indonesia will glow faintly.
